About Us
Climate Change makers In Sub-Saharan Africa is a community based Non-profit organisations and NGO based in kajiado County, Kenya. The Organization’s humanitarian and relief work is aimed to address the challenging issue of climate change such as drought, deforestation, carbon emission, and plastic pollution through use of solar energy, tree planting and living in harmony with the Earth. We also build on gains on other projects that came forth to address this global concern.
Our Commitment Towards Climate Change In Sub Saharan Africa
Within the seven continents of the world, Africa is ranked the driest of them all. It is forecasted that climate change- induced water stress could affect up to 700 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa1. Despite the continent contributing less than 4% of Global Greenhouse gas emissions, it is one of the regions that are most vulnerable to climate variability and change. This is due to its high exposure and low adaptive capacity.
Kajiado County one of the ASAL Counties. Majority of its population practice rearing of livestock and crop farming as the main economic activities. The county has a bi-modal pattern of rainfall. The long rains fall between March and May while the short rain fall between October and December.
The county is home to 999,819 people (MoALF, 2017) mostly the Maasai community that are known pastoralists. This puts their source of livelihood at the mercy of favorable climate changes. Over the years, perennial drought has significantly ravaged these lands, in fact climate hazards have been common since the 1900s. This has resulted in the drying up of water sources leading to crop failures, loss of livestock, increased distances to watering points in the pastoral livelihood zone and increased human wildlife conflicts.
Livestock and wildlife have been the worst hit by the drought with 290,000 heads of cattle dying within the year 2022 and over a million are at risk of death by starvation. Seventy-five percent of wildlife have also been pushed out of their natural habitat in search of food and water1.

OUR OBJECTIVES
The overall objective of this project is to enhance resilience and adaptive capacity to effects of climate change while reduce vulnerability of selected communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Specifically, the proposed project will be addressing through the following specific objectives;
STOP CUTTING DOWN TREES
We are working with local government to stop cutting down trees in the region. At the same time educating the community on the importance of having trees as a water catchment factor, among others.
REDUCING CARBON EMISSION
We educating the community on the effects of burning carbon generating substances such as charcoal, plastics use, and their adverse effects on the environment.
EFFECTIVE WATER CONSUMPTION
We are working with the community to ensure that water is used effectively and efficiently. We are also working with the government to ensure that water is available to all.
ENCOURAGE LIVING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
We are working with the community to ensure that they live in harmony with nature. We are also working with the government to ensure that the community is supported fairly in terms of aids and donations.
SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
We are working with the community to ensure that they are economically sustainable in terms of farming, livestock keeping, as well as providing funds to the local groups to venture into businesses as a team.
RECYCLING THE DAILY WASTE
We are working with the community to ensure that they recycle the daily waste and use it to make other products that can be used in the community. We are also working with the local government to ensure that they educate the community on proper means of waste recycling and reuse.
Call To Action
Environment destroyers must quit debilitating the privileges of defense less groups and undermining atmosphere science and activity. Give an application directly to the local member of parliament and we will be forwarding it to the relevant authorities.
